Discworld Treasure Hunt

Postby Tonyblack » Sat Mar 12, 2011 10:12 pm

I've got this idea for a game that we can play. I hope it will work.

Over the next few weeks I'm going to hide links in my posts that will lead to Discworld Wiki pages for certain characters. When you find the link, click on it and save the name.

When you find all ten names, PM me and I'll announce the winner.

I may give a prize to the winner. :D

Here's an example of how I may hide the links:

----> :D <---- As you can see, this smiley is a link.

-----> This text is also a link.

This is only an example and not part of the competition. I shall try and give a clue in the otherwise normal post, such as an out of place smiley or some sort of pun.

We'll start this on Tuesday 15th and run it until Tuesday 22th just to see how it goes. So that gives you all a couple of days to ask questions on this thread.

Good luck. :D

Could be fun. It shouldn't be too difficult to write a program to scan all your posts
One of those? Oh I'm sure I have one somewhere..

This is like a really good marketing stategy :P Promising a prize to look for hidden clues in your posts, i.e. everyone'll read your posts carefully... sorry, that's just the influence of school  (school of economics  )

It sounds like fun, but by the end my eyes would be aching after carefully scanning every one of your posts.

I'm in ,sounds like fun. :D
I've got a question though ,will the link stay in your posts permanently or will they only be links for a certain time and if you miss it you're out?
Also what about the threads that have "spoilers" in their name?People don't go into the threads that have spoilers for books they haven't read yet,at least I don't.

This sounds like fun, and I'll try; but I'm mainly on the iPod, so it may be hard scanning your posts, especially if they are in those massive birthday posts.

Good questions! :D

I'm not planning on deleting the links, so you'll have the whole week to find them.

And I promise not to hide any in 'spoiler' threads or birthday threads. :D

We'll see how it goes and then maybe do another one if it works well.

Are you going to reveal the answers after the first person gets it?
