Where in the world is Terry?

Postby roylarke » Tue Jun 09, 2009 7:35 am

I was walking through Tokyo yesterday and walked straight past a tall, dapper gentleman with a short white beard, glasses and only slightly more hair than myself and only realised he was the spitting image of Terry about 10 yards later, by which time my 2 year old was demanding my attention.

Could it be that Terry is in Tokyo? Just thought I'd ask. Have a great time wherever you are.

As far as I know he's not in Tokyo - but who knows? :D

I saw him (I think) years and years ago on a cross channel ferry - with a very battered paperback copy of one of his books. I hadn't met him at the time and wasn't absolutely sure it was him, so I didn't approach him.

Welcome to the site roylarke! :D

When the Worldcon was in Yokohama two years ago he was listed as attending, but when I next spoke to him he said it was a bit too far to go at the time.

Before I forget welcome to the forum roylarke. :)

You know how NASA track Santa on Christmas Eve, so that you can tell which part of the World he is delivering presents in, why doesn't Rob or someone track Terry?

It'd be nice to see his blip on an atlas!

Going to my school was an education in itself. Which is not to be confused with actually getting an education (Schultz)

Hi and welcome roylarke

Which part of Tokyo was he walking through?

I can't imagine it was Roppongi, he's not in the US army or a sukebi English teacher.
Omotesando Hills is probably too pretentious for him.
Shibuya is a bit too "kawaii girlie" for him.
Ginza is too expensive.
Harajuku is probably too trendy for him.
Shinjuku has the best Irish pub in Japan, so maybe he was there?

Sorry Chris, it wasn't me because;
a. No way am I "dapper"
b. Not really a gentleman
c. No beard
d. Don't need glasses
e. Slightly less hair than roylarke!

I've always imagined Ankh-Morpork as a kind of low-tech Kabukicho. Maybe that's where he was.
