Has anyone asked for Sir Terry's opinion about Egypt?

Getting back to the original poster's question - I must say that Night Watch has been on my mind during this whole thing. The idea that the military who may have been called to attack the protesters would have been attacking family members and friends seemed somewhat most likely than other, similar situations.

to tell the truth, I'd rather feel that the general level of this thread would serve as an indication of why he hasn't and shouldn't be asked.

I've always had the impression that TP was a shrewd observer with experience of the press and that he was focussed on various issues he is directly concerned in.

I'd tend to expect that a request for a views on the Egyptian situation were met with a polite but firm reply that it was an area he couldn't reasonably be expected to comment on.
