How extensive is Terry's Dwarfish?

Postby unseenu » Mon Aug 30, 2010 2:12 pm

I have recently finished reading Thud! which featured many dwarf words, there was also quite a few in TFE.My question is this:did terry construct the Dwarf language in a simmilar way to Tolkien's elf language or does he just make it up when the plot calls for it?
Proof that L-Space exists in this universe

Fact 1:Heavier things distort time and space more
Fact 2:A page with ink on it is heavier than an unprinted page
Conclusion:A book distorts time and space more than blank papers

Considering the way Dwarfish is spoken in the Discworld books, I find it highly unlikely you could base a language on it... but you never know, after all  .

I hope it's a real language and I would love to learn it :!:

Sir Terry should write a 'Teach yourself Dwarfish' :D

Personally, I think Terry only does it to give Stephen Briggs a hard time when he reads the audiobooks.
Look, you've got it all wrong! You don't NEED to follow ME, You don't NEED to follow ANYBODY! You've got to think for your selves! You're ALL individuals!
Yes! We're all individuals!

Going to my school was an education in itself. Which is not to be confused with actually getting an education (Schultz)
