Sounds like pretty much everything else Tim Burton has done. All style no content.

I really don't understand why he is held in such high regard. I always find his work uninteresting.

I don't know. Some of his early movies have a lot of heart and energy. And Big Fish was incredible.

But this movie was really a lot of pretty images and no heart. Which is a shame because I really think Burton is capable of making brilliant films. Maybe he's lost it. Or maybe I've outgrown his work.

I think you and I are in the same place when it comes to Tim Burton.

While I appreciate his artistry and style I find myself rather blah about it now. I know what I'm going to get when I get a Tim Burton film.

For me, much of it comes to his casting. I have no problem with a few recurring actors that he enjoys working with, but to constantly use Depp seems dull to me. I get that he's a brilliant actor but he should venture out and find some other people. I am sure there are plenty of actors who would love to work with Burton.

Alice was visually stunning and full of delight. That said, the story seemed dumbed down for the audience, which is sad.

Syfy's Alice was so much better to me. At least it had more fun with the source work. Cheers.

I've got one thing to say:

It was brilliant!

Oh yes! Brilliant. Watched it in 3D. Excellent. Loved the CGI. JD was great and I loved his scottish accent...whoops. doesn't give anything away honest.

Loved the character roles: ie Stephen Fry and Alan Rickman for just two. Then I sat back and watched an amazing couple of hours of fantastic entertainment.

I saw Alice In wonderland at the weekend with the Missus, we both liked it, but I don't think 3D added anything to it.
I might find a place that's showing it in 2D and try my theory out....

I was just not that impressed the way everyone else was. I enjoyed it and it was entertaining, but I'm just tired of Depp/Burton pairings.

I can never tire of Johnny Depp working with Tim Burton. I LOVED IT!

They work well, I do not deny that but don't you think it'd be nice to have some variety, working with some new actors, changing things up a bit.

How long until Burton redoes Oz?

Nope! Sorry, I think they are a dream team and why break something that works for something that may or may not work? Personally I would be horrified if Johnny Depp was swapped for someone more fashionable like Robert Pattinson!

I would be the same if I was a director. I'd only call those I know are on my wavelength.

Besides Johnny Depp turned in a great performance as the Mad Hatter so it's not like he's miscast in all the roles Burton places him in.

I have no desire to see Robert Pattinson in anything.

But, it's just too formulaic for my tastes. I know exactly what I'm going to get when I see them both on a bill. And while I was entertained with this film, it was not mind-blowing. The parts of the film I enjoyed the most were those where Depp was absent. The White Queen was phenomenally portrayed by Hathaway and the March Hare brewing and cooking=hilarious.

But, it's just become too routine to see Depp and Burton together. I love Burton's style but if he ventured out of his comfort zone, there are plenty of other actors who I am sure would love to work with him and are just as brilliant.
