Anyway, no more contributions, so yet another trailer for a Doctor Who DVD release, The Creature from the Pit.

Oh, and just for variety, I have to wonder how many people's hopes were raised by this trailer for Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, only to be cruelly dashed by the end product? :)

Okay, so for more variety, I've added two trailers to this post:

Quantum of Solace: Big on action, but thin on plot. Really thin, especially after the wonderful third version of Casino Royale. Not at all the best vehicle for Daniel Craig's Bond. So, here's the trailer.

Doctor Who: Meglos: The main villain is a cactus, who, ironically enough, is also one of the better actors in this story. Trailer here.

Next trailer, and probably the last for the time being: Doctor Who: Four to Doomsday, one of the two worst Doctor Who stories ever made.

How many more of the old series have you got to go Q? And do you then have to start of the new series? or have you been watching those this time around?

Uh, I'm about a third of the way through Colin Baker's time (the Sixth Doctor) in my little marathon elsewhere (I finished The Mark of the Rani today). One of the next stories that I would have posted a trailer for was already posted (Silver Nemesis), and I'm waiting to reserve final judgement on Time and the Rani before posting the trailer.

As for the new series, well, I'm considering watching it in order, but once I finish off the Seventh Doctor's stories, I'm going to do a catch-up of stories I missed out on, either deliberately (like special editions of certain stories, or the spinoff special K9 and Company) or unintentionally due to the DVD schedule (like The Gunfighters), before finishing off with the TV Movie. Then, I will consider moving onto the new series. I've watched all but two episodes: Love & Monsters, and The Lodger.

I don't quite understand what's happening on this thread. :?

Do all these trailers for Doctor Who progs mean the progs are crappy? :?

In my opinion, anyway (though fan opinion is virtually unanimous on The Twin Dilemma, and while I tried to watch the story with an open mind, I have to agree that it's pretty bad). These particular serials that I posted the trailers to are mediocre at best. The very worst, IMO, are The Ark, Four to Doomsday, and The Twin Dilemma. One day, I want to do MST3K-style riffing on them. :)

I can post trailers for stories that I would recommend, Pooh, if you want. :) Though I doubt that anyone'd take me up on my offer, knowing how well my enjoyment of Doctor Who goes down here. :P

Most BBC trailers (and ITV come to that) are "reasonably" good, until you watch the actual programme and realise that all the best bits were in the 20 second trailer!!
Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them.

The rest of us are a bit crap.

Hmm. Of course, the trailers that I was posting were trailers that were put onto the DVD releases by 2Entertain or someone, not by the BBC specifically for television. If I had the option, I could have added that of a story that I intend to watch soon, Timelash.

Actually, since they are running out of classic stories to release now, that's probably why most of the crappy ones have trailers, as the trailers were only put on relatively recently (since 2007, if I remember correctly).

Last Doctor Who trailer, at least for the classic series: Time and the Rani.

Let's see, seeing since I have no more Doctor Who trailers at the moment to post, I might as well post this trailer for Johnny English, one of the most odious films I have ever watched voluntarily and a waste of Rowan Atkinson's talents.

You would be pleased to know that there's another Johnny English film coming out soon(ish) :P

I'm going to see it for the supporting cast. Gillian Anderson, Rosamund Pike and Ben Miller again. Plus Tealeaf from Psychoville. :)
