Actually, speaking of weird ads and Cola, did you ever read the first Red Dwarf novel, Dotsie? One sequence involved a series of supernovae being detonated in order to create, in the sky of Earth, a months-long advertisement reading "COKE ADDS LIFE". In fact, Kryten was on one of the ships involved....
