I don't know anything about comics though. Is there a real difference between Marvel and DC (like saying DC's more kid-friendly)?

I always thought of Marvel as more kid friendly - but they both go from one extreme to the other DC has THE JOKER, Watchmen. Marvel has the Punisher, Blade and Wolverine
