Sefton Theatre Company (Southport, Merseyside) are planning to put on Wyrd Sisters next March 11th to 14th.

Before they actually pay for the performing rights they have been advised to check if there were any other amateur company productions of the same play taking place around the same time, or even any professional productions. Now for a Pro-production it's quite easy, it's info about the amateur field that may cause a problem.

So, does anybody know if there are any other Wyrd Sisters productions for early next year in the North West of England?

They do have a number of players who are members of multiple companies in the local area and nobody really local is planning one, but I thought I'd ask here too, as DW fans are often the best information resource for DW related stuff (amongst other things).

It is one of the earlier plays, but since this will be the company's first foray into Discworld, it's also possibly the most accessible one for players with little prior knowledge of the characters, or even the humour of the pieces.

Have you tried contacting Stephen Briggs? I don't know if his permission has to be obtained to put on a play, but he might be able to help.

I've just come off alt.fan.pratchett and there is somebody advertising Wyrd Sisters to be staged at The Gladstone Theatre on October 9-11.
Apparently the theatre is in Port Sunlight Wirral and the company is called the Port Sunlight Players.Hope this helps and break a leg.

We have already been in touch with the Port Sunlight Players, mainly to confer about props, costumes and staging, but since they are outside the "window" for other performances we should be OK.

Hi, everyone. As this is my first post on this forum, be gentle with me - I'm patently a TP poster virgin!

If anyone is interested, I am currently involved with a new production of Wyrd Sisters, to be performed at Kelvedon in Essex at the end of October / beginning of November 2008. Details can be found on our website at: www.kelvedonplayers.co.uk .

We will have our first night on Friday 24th October, then go on again on Saturday 25th, Friday 31st (Halloween - when we are asking our audience to please come dressed in Halloween costume!), and Saturday 1st November (also a Fancy Dress Night - come dressed as your favourite Terry Pratchett character!).

It's been a real hoot working on the rehearsals, and we have arranged a number of other surprises for our audiences. TP and Simon Briggs have been invited, naturally, but I'd be staggered / gobsmacked / honoured if they turned up!

I'd also be very interested to find out how other amateur groups have put a production of this kind together, or to hear your views on any TP production you have watched from the audience.

I'll let you know in November how it went for us - wish us luck!! Whatever happens, as Duke Felmet would say, we're just - "a bunch of funny fellows in tights, but people seem to like it!".

However, since I am, as you say, a Thespian, I could still be a troll in disguise you know - but better to be safe than sorry .

It's o.k. to wish us luck on this occasion - we certainly need it more than broken legs at this stage - as the old Thespian tradition doesn't apply here in Discworld.
