...is the correct answer!

Question 2

What was the sign Scott Adams used to let Dilbert readers know Dilbert had had sex?

Do you need to ask? I have Seven Years of Highly Defective People: Scott Adams' Guided Tour of the Evolution of Dilbert on my bookshelf (well, actually on the floor, but within easy grabbing distance of an armchair, so all's well), so I know the answer. :|

His tie was drawn straight. Happy? If not, ESAD. :teasing-wedgie:

And BTW FYI BBQ, I have read, in just under three years, over 300 books, ranging from Austen and Dickens, to crappy modern manga. Seven of which were Terry Pratchett novels of one stripe or another. I may not have read every book by every person ever, but I have certainly read more than the average person. And keep in mind that the above is a relatively recent spike in my activity. I have certainly read maybe that amount again in my entire lifetime, if not more.  :revolution:

Still like the national geographic thing where people felt Obama would be the better president to have during an alien invasion

On a different note, as I'm not going to the DWCon, I'm saving 3,000 quid, so I felt like treating myself. 8-) 8-) 8-)

Just looking through ebay, I found a book I really wanted which had a buy now or best offer. I offered 66% of the price (which was already very low). I had a look at the seller's other books and did the same on another book too.

He accepted my offers! :o :o

So for 5 bonus points, which two books have I just bought?

Hints

-They are both classics that everyone has heard of
-They are both more than 60 years old
-They are both British writers
-One is a Deluxe first/first edition
-The other is a US ARC proof

Is one of them by Eric Blair?

(After quickly checking wiki to see who Eric Blair was  )

Bingo!

I got an ARC proof of one of his books!

BTW both books cost less than 500 quid in total, in fact none of the books cost as much as my Snuff UK proof.

You are frakking kidding me. But the ARC proof, is it of a first edition? And which book is it? The one with the year or the one with the animals? Or was it another one?

BTW, can't think of who the other one is. It's too early for Ian Fleming. I'm guessing either Evelyn Waugh or a certain Clive Staples Lewis.

A great little gem of a book!
Advance Copy (ARC) - Released prior to First American Edition

Cover States:
“This is an Advance, Confidential Copy of Animal Farm”
“Publication Date will be Announced Later”

Description: All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others - arguably one of the most influential novels of the 20th century. This is a very rare advance review copy (ARC) of Animal Farm by George Orwell. This was released in a very limited quantity prior to the release of the American first edition. The book was published by Harcourt, Brace and Company in 1946 and states “First American Edition.”

A quick Wiki reveals three likely candidates, but knowing you, it's The House at Pooh Corner by A.A Milne.

BTW, Pooh, you DO know what happened to poor Christopher Robin Milne, right? :|
