Allison Weatherwax (possible witch book spoilers)

Postby raptornx01 » Sun Jan 29, 2012 6:26 pm

Ok, this to me was never really clarified. the name kind of came out of no where in Carpe Jugulum. but i want to know, is Allison Weatherwax THE "Black Alice" mentioned in the earlier witch books or not?

So i wasn't the only one to think that (though the poor reading comprehension crack was a bit unfair). her real name is mentioned only ONCE, in wyrd sisters. i just figured it was always implied but never settled and since terry changed a bit since then, well, i chaulked it up to being like the patrician in CoM. you know? Ideas by a less experienced author.

and it would fit more, be more significant, more than a vague mention of someone you never heard of (allison i mean). and would fit with terry's cynical views. IE there were all these fantastical stories about her, and everyone SAID she was bad (Aliss) but in the end the real truth was that she wasn't bad, not really. Just a showy, quirky, witch.

I must admit to having been confused about it myself at one point - but the Discworld Companion is pretty clear about it.

In Carpe Jugulum, Granny learns that her grandmother Alison didn't go bad, as she'd feared - she went to Uberwald killing vampires.

Though her family called her Buffy.
