Best Book Ever?? - The Results

Postby RJH » Thu Nov 03, 2011 10:52 am

EDIT: Results are in: http://bricksandbooks.co.uk/2011/best-b ... e-results/

What is the greatest every Discworld book? It is a question that will get people debating for hours on end on Pratchett and book forums, we all have our favourite books and ones we did not enjoy but there has never been a clear answer.....until now. Bricks & Books has decided to find out which book is the most popular Discworld novel ever and why. So from now till the 30th November we are asking Discworld fans from across the globe to tell us which book is their most favourite ever.

If you are interested in helping then simply put a number from 1-39 next to each book, with 1 being the most popular and 39 being the least (please note you can only use each number once), then answer the two questions at the bottom and then you pm your answers, so then no one can be swayed by others.

The novel list:

The Colour of Magic
The Light Fantastic
Equal Rites
Mort
Sourcery
Wyrd Sisters
Pyramids
Guards! Guards!
Eric
Moving Pictures
Reaper Man
Witches Aboard
Small Gods
Lords and Ladies
Men at Arms
Soul Music
Interesting Times
Maskerade
Feet of Clay
Hogfather
Jingo
The Last Continent
Carpe Jugulum
The Fifth Elephant
The Truth
Thief of Time
The Last Hero
The Amazing Maurice and his Educated Rodents
Night Watch
The Wee Free Men
Monstrous Regiment
A Hat Full of Sky
Going Postal
Thud!
Wintersmith
Making Money
Unseen Academicals
I Shall Wear Midnight
Snuff

The questions are as follows:

Why did you pick that novel to be your number one book?
Why did you pick that novel to be your least favourite book?

On the 1st of December I will post the results up, I will be getting people from various sites and forums to fill in the popularity list so we can gage a wide range of Discworld fans, so for once we will have a clear winner. Any questions please leave a comment below.

I'll get at it at some point. 1-39 will involve some hard decisions :D

I know I have been staring at the list now for a few days but it will be fun and once the list is published will no doubt get some serious debating done on this forum. :D

I'll have read all the main DW books by then (halfway through UA, then Snuff and I'm done), but not the Young Adult books or illustrated ones.

Will be an interesting thing to do anyway. :)

Could you post everyone's lists here once the deadline passes? I understand you don't want them in the thread yet, but I'd like to see them! 8)

Not thought about it yet but once the list is revealed there is nothing stopping you all sharing your lists, I also have it on various other sites as well.

Sent mine already. Resisted putting Pyramids last. Its not as much fun trashing it without Pooh around

I can't believe how many have sent entries in already, it makes for interesting reading, might have to do a few graphs as well to show how many votes etc once it has finished. :D
