I was just re-reading Hogfather and it says that the bathroom built by Bloody Stupid Johnson was sealed up during the time of Archchancellor Weatherwax. Is this Mistress Weatherwax? Are there any Discworld books featuring this particular Archchancellor?

Yes he's in Light Fantastic and he's a distant relation of Granny's. He's Galder Weatherwax.

Thanks, Tony. I've read The Light Fantastic but don't recall that character. I should re-read I think.

Funny the things you forget because they had no apparent importance at the time but jump out at you on re-reads.

He was played by James Cosmo in the Colour of Magic TV show.

I thought it was Nigel Planer :?

Edit: Just checked ... sorry ... he was in it but not as Galder Weatherwax ... I haven't seen it for a while.

We should have a topic marked questions because some people might have quite a lot.

He's also mentioned in Lords and Ladies, when Ridcully and Granny are talking on the bridge.

What actually happens to Galder Weatherwax? It just seems that he dissapeared. And why do all the other wizards seem to become bunnies towards the end of the book; very frightened.

Isn't Galder killed by Trymon, in the Dead Mens Pointy Shoes tradition?

Galder was swallowed by the Luggage, when he had been trying to catch Rincewind via magic arrow

Oh, ok. I forgot about that. Mind you, they seemed to have just dissapeared off the page when that happened  Thanks. Maybe trymon planned it

Interesting though, that up until Moving Pictures, there always had been a different Archchancellor in every book, (exept Color of Magic and Light Fantastic, but that's a sequel) but Ridcully seems very stable...
Listen.
