What character would you be on the Discworld?

Postby captainsmog » Fri Oct 30, 2009 10:30 am

Let me clarify this topic...

I'm preparing a roleplay game in the universe of the Discworld
and I asked my fellow players to choose a character they
would play in my game. Then I thought it was an interresting
question I should ask you all fans

So write here what you would be on the Disc, but no existing character.

-Name?

Name Valentina Ariana
-Race Mixed Race - Uberwaldian mainly Vampire but has a touch of Werewolf about her
-Age You sure you want to know?
-Size Petit
-Colors Dark, lustrous hair, vibrant silvery eyes - pale complexion
-Job Unemployable (who'd want a Vampwolf?)
-Country Uberwald
-Particularity She likes chocolate, favourite pub is Biers, and would love to sink her teeth into Vetinari.
-Quality Her good conscience gets the better of her so she can't explore the darker depths of her personality - though she'd love to!
-Defect Her Werewolf side.
-Other Likes carousing with her best friend Otto - but strays to Human men - though doesn't bite - she is NOT a true Black Ribboner as her Werewolf side means she HAS to eat blood - at times ....

*chucks Valentina a nice juicy raw steak*

-Name? Tarquinius
-Race? Werewolf
-Age? 35
-Size? 6'2" and athletic as human; 6 foot from nose to tip of tail and fit as a butcher's dog of a full moon
-Colors? As a human ~ thick luxuriant liver-brown hair & 'melting' dark spaniel eyes: As a wolf ~ dark brown, grey and chestnut brindled coat and very dark intelligent eyes
-Job? He's a new recruit in the Watch
-Country? Überwald
-Particularity? Currently in Biers 'bonding' with Valentina - maybe  Likes to be outdoors sniffing around
-Quality? Enthusiastic and always ready to help his friends
-Defect? Acts before thinking a lot - having wolf blood means he's not too patient always.
-Other? Would like to always be the alpha male so finds it hard to be a rookie Watchman, but he likes running with the 'pack' - especially with Angua around full moon

granite

cant count
9ft massive even for a troll
black with speckly shiney bits
enforcer for chyrophase
ramtops now in the city
because granite is always cold he retains more than normal troll intelligence
very diligent and dogged
sociopath
is a very dangerous and intelligent troll, chyrophase keeps him very close so he can keep him in check.granite if he gets the chance will make a very hostile takeover
measuring intelligence by exam results is like measuring digestion by turd length

You can call me Charley
Minotaur
8 feet tall
Horns 2 feet long and grey but with corks on them so not to hurt anyone accidentally.
Brown fur on the bull parts. Human parts very heavilly build to support the heavy bulls head.
Strictly vegetarian (bulls don't eat meat)
From Ephebe
New watch recruit
Extremely strong but also friendly (think tauren from WoW) and a bit of a philosopher (he comes from Ephebe remember)
Gets very angry when insulted and saying moo! to him counts as suicide
Favourite weapon is a very big double bladed battle axe
HUMANS NEED FANTASY TO BE HUMAN. TO BE THE PLACE WHERE THE FALLING ANGEL MEETS THE RISING APE.

You know we could write a story with us as our own characters. When it's our turn to write, we could bring in the real Discworld characters to interact with them. Lots more fun and easier like that.

You can do that on DreamWorlds already Cheery  Well you could do - we've still got the Broken Drum open for business.

For adults who are members we also have Biers - but it's not viewable for guests (in case under-18s read something nasty... )

No worries Cheery - We also have Death hosting a Trick or Treat trivia board race going too atm (no RPing required unless you want to)

Captainsmog - what kind of RPGing are you into? We just do textual (rather than WoW/console) on DreamWorlds if you're interested. We're looking to start a dedicated Discworld one in the New Year with any luck - currently the Broken Drum's a multi-fandom game so any character can go in there (for instance Gandalf or Han Solo could play with Granny and Ridcully for instance)

I don't play WOW so I have still a life
Me and my fellow players are roleplaying around a table.
We play in various universes (Cthulhu, heroic-fantasy, post-apoc and so on...)
I'm really looking forward to rule the Disc (MWAHAHAHAHAAAA!) -though
I was game master for the nine last sessions and I would love to be a modest player in a new game*
I would love to play a real-size RPG too, but never did...

*Do you need an aspirin?

Excuse me: I didn't understand that... :?:

I don't know if I understand well... What is DreamWorlds? A website?
I'd like to try to play with you, but my preference goes to a
"strict Discworld universe game" (I admit: I'm a little bit purist  but
that universe is so wonderful! :D )

 Click my sig and you can have a rootle around and see for yourself.

I better PM you as I could go on for ages about what we do and hope to do on there in the way of RPG but v. quickly we have one dedicated fandom universe - Tolkien's Arda, which is like it says, all about hobbits etc and we largely would stick to canon or 'authentic' environments for Elves, Dwarves etc where you could RP your own or canon characters. We have another experimental 'insanity' RPG where we're running Biers and BD in which you can play different genre characters alongside Granny, Rincewind etc. Actually Discworld being such a mixture with vampires & werewolves from Twilight, Buffy, Harry Potter, Charmed blah blah you can mix it up quite successfully with interesting options like Tolkien Elves are totally different to Discworld Elves to try out. OR we can run a purely Discworld or HP RPG thread with just the canon and self-made characters (as per mine & Lady V's entries here) and set in AM or Lancre etc.

Textual RP isn't like WoW or LotRO or tabletop - it's totally written interaction to a theme or freeplay with a sketchy RP outline or, with a strictly canon RPG to a tighter outline that adheres more to original canon - the Fall of Gondolin has been staged very succesfully on a larger site for instance (we lack the numbers). Though it's reliant on writing skills, it's good fun and easier than it sounds. Then there's the fan-fiction...

A dedicated Discworld only RP forum is my next goal, but we need more players :P
