Stroopwafels (Nl-stroopwafels2.ogg pronunciation (help·info)) (English translation: syrup waffles) are thin Dutch waffles with a syrup filling. They were first made in Gouda in the Netherlands, in 1784. Large versions are sold in the streets as a snack........beats rat on a stick surely!

If only I had known this before....they would definately have been on my love list...even without tasting them.
Hi minna, I didn't see you there! :D

I've actually found British stroopwafels sold as 'syrup wafers' or something like that, in my local Co-op in Cardiff. They are particularly nice if you place them over your cup of coffee so that the steam melts the syrup.

Welcome to the site! :D

"You kicked a puppy," Lobsang said accusingly.
