I used to know a bloke who was adamant that he could see the flags on the Moon where the Apollo landings had been - with his telescope. But he was a nutter who also used to argue that wrens were female robins.

My husband and I were watching the Perseids meteor shower and I noticed the space station. When it reached the sunshine edge it glowed sooooo neat. He was impressed. I have been in Canada and watching the stars up there you can see satellites go by every 25 min or so, and that is neat. I Never thought we would see the space station tho!!

I have seen the Northern Lights a couple of times in IL, and had a really kewl night when I was on that fishing trip in Canada. We were 50 miles from the nearest village, flew in on a Water plane.
Aha! So, Bob's yer uncle... very clever.

I would have thought that the light pollution wouldn't have made much difference, what with all the fog, rain clouds, and auto exhaust already there.

Here it is, Tony [in orbit ] over our stairs on our landing. There is some build up of 'cosmic' dust on its hanging wires and upper surfaces but NASA assures me that this is "natural and nothing to be concerned about".
