New speed cameras on M4 from 17 August 2009 - beware !!!

This may be of interest to anyone driving Newport end of the M4. Someone I know who is in the know has sent me this.

“I’d thought I’d better keep you informed of happenings on the M4. There are new average speed cameras installed on both eastbound and westbound carriageways from junction 24 (Coldra) to junction 25a (Cwmbran). They are set at 50mph. Do not exceed this speed limit as you will be likely to have 3 points added to your licence. The gantries are in place now but will not be functional until the 17th (next Monday) so beware and watch your speed.”

I'm surprised there aren't already speed cameras on the M4.

The UK has the most CCTV cameras of and country in the world. There is one CCTV camera for every 14 people in the UK.

I peronally find that absolutely repulsive! :x

I agree with you! And what really annoys me is when the people who put these cameras in place use the excuse: "you have nothing to fear if you are innocent".

I think they should attach CCTV cameras to all TVs, cars, toilets and beds sold.

You have nothing to fear if you are innocent, do you?

Better still, just wear a cap with a CCTV camera attached.

You have nothing to fear if you are innocent, do you?

Why not just force feed everyone a satnav chip?

You have nothing to fear if you are innocent, do you?

The speedcamera was invented by a Dutchman, Maurice Gatsonides (who was a racing driver  ) So I just wanted to say sorry on behalf of all the Dutch

I heard that the Belgians regularly get out of their cars and attack speed cameras with baseball bats.

We don't complain about the speed cameras. We just slow down if one is coming. The rest of the way, we're total hooligans.

Weeeeeel, they are talking about it over here in the US. We chip our dogs, cats, artwork, bottles of Dom Perignon, computers, cars, and there is a controversial idea of chipping our children (TO KEEP THEM SAFE, OF COURSE...) sooooo, the mark of the beast is really not too far in the future.
Aha! So, Bob's yer uncle... very clever.
