Amazon Takes Back Orwell Books from Reader's Kindle

(For General Discussion)

Should books be "kindlized" and if so does the seller have the right to retrieve the book without notice?

No - Down with Kindle. I want "real books!"

Yes, BUT - once you've bought and paid for it, the Kindle copy is as much yours as a paper copy.

This is all going to boil down to the wording of the software agreement that people 'agree' on without actually reading.

I always loved the bit in Good Omens where Crowley sends a software agreement to the demons in hell and tells them to read it and learn.

YES. Sue the pants off them!

Actually, don't. Because if you do that, the site might go down and we wouldn't be able to buy books from them anymore!

Sue as much as you can without bankrupting them!

But what about the CHILDREN? Won't anyone think of the children who haven't even got a chance to buy books from Amazon yet?

Yeah, just think of all those children, with credit cards, that'll have to suffer the indignity of borrowing a book from the local library!

Poor Dotsie, I fear she shall never be the same. I found one in my used book after that and was pretty grossed out too.

That was a joke, by the way. o_0 The main reason I go on Amazon is to see what people say about my favorite books.

In at least one case, a Michigan teenager is suing Amazon for removing the book and wrecking his "copious" homework notes.
