Only Sir Terry knows...

Postby Cheery » Fri Jul 10, 2009 3:52 pm

Since most of you seem to think a lot about the little details mentioned in the books, I thought we could discuss some questions that have popped up. Most of them may never be answered, but that shouldn't stop us from discussing them. :D

Feel free to discuss any question about any Discworld character about anything.

While listening to Night Watch, I've noticed that Vimes's younger self kept talking about "Our mum". This would be a bit strange for an only child to say.
So my question is: May he have any siblings? And are there any other clues to it?

Probably, only Sir Terry knows...

Not at all - it's very common to talk that way in parts of the UK, especially up North. :D

Oh. Would've been nice, though.

EDIT: Let's stay with Night Watch: What actually happened to his father? Does it say anywhere?

...although I would add that Mrs Vimes seems to be a widow.

I'm going to need a swat team, ready to mobilize, street maps covering the whole of florida, a pot of coffee, 12 jammy dodgers and A FEZ.

Well, she said, he got driven over by a cart, so the reason she lied must've been something very bad or hard to explain. Either he ran away, got killed by someone or just disappeared one day. It surely was something she didn't want to explain to her child (or children :) )
