I cooked a haggis a couple of days ago. Really enjoyed it. Image And today I had a drop (or two) of Jura, so I'm feeling all warm and relaxed! Image
Going to my school was an education in itself. Which is not to be confused with actually getting an education (Schultz)

I remember this, address to the haggis, from a QI episode.

Fair fa' your honest, sonsie face,
Great chieftain o' the puddin-race!
Aboon them a' ye tak your place,
Painch, tripe, or thairm:
Weel are ye wordy o' a grace
As lang's my arm.

My dad always got the job of reciting the Ode each Burns Night at his club (the one where men wear aprons and do a funny handshake). We took a wee dram for him and a few more for Burns last night.....just small ones and my head's fine this morning

Burns Night sounds great if it wasn't for the Haggis. I know I'm probably prejudiced, but the stuff that goes into one is for a large part stuff I don't like.
It's even celebrated in Mainz, where I study.
I wonder if it is possible to just have the soup, the whisky and the trifle and skip the Haggis.
On with their heads! I'm the clown prince of fools

Love and laughter you see are the new currency
'cause greed's coinage is not worth a toss

Yep, ours was a veggie haggis too. We've just sliced and fried the other half with the leftover tatties in a tatty cake. No animals were hurt in the making of our dinner.

I like the real thing* but didn't get one this year, maybe a delayed Burns night is called for.

Many moons ago I was at a Burns Supper in the hills around Cleckhuddersfax where I not only piped the haggis but addressed it. So there I was putting on what I thought was my best Private Frazer voice (That's the actor John Laurie in Dad's Army for those who don't know).

Well, after I had finished, I overheard someone remark "That's the first time I've heard the address done in a Yorkshire accent".

That tickled me , because I'm born and bred Sussex! Just moved to University in Leeds in 1973 and stayed...
