This Will Cost You

Postby Trish » Tue Jun 09, 2009 4:46 pm

In view of the cash that Tony and PoohB have forked over to Alzheimer's research due to the goodness of their hearts, methinks we all ought to do the same.

Now, it gets interesting.

Not simply a "cash drive," as it were, but a contest of sorts. e.g.:
Whoever swears (except for the Frustration Thread, swearing is integral there) has to fork over 5 pounds or whoever uses semi-colons & colons improperly or whoever can't spell "Magrat' or something along those lines.

No guidelines, but real rules.
First Rule: we all have to donate to the same fund.
Bylaw to the First Rule: yeah, I know we're all broke or at least "reduced," but so what? It could be one of us and one day it might, so why not forego a single movie rental and do non-political good with that money?

What say ye?

Uh, how much is 5 pounds in real time, can someone tell me?

Not a bad idea Trish - but somewhat unfair to our members who don't speak English as their first language. :?

Maybe some refinements may be needed to make it as fair as possible. :)

Indeed, it does require refinement, which is why I brought it up.

Tony, you're the Ubermoderator (I don't know how to make an umlat on this keyboard, forgive, please. Or not.), how about a couple of ideas from you?

5 UK Pounds = $8.15969 as of today.

I think it would be fair if people opted into this rather than just springing it on a newbie.

Maybe the use of computer shorthand such as using '4' instead of 'for' or 'U' instead of 'you'.

I don't have a job, so if it's alright with you I'll just send good vibes for now :)

Me as well jobs are a bit thin on the ground at the Mo. may have to wait until this recession is over and then I may be lucky and find something but I'm not desperate and will pick and choose.

Tell me about it... I have been fighting for my unemployment insurance since March.
Truth is, being unemployed is better than working for my skank of an ex-boss.

But I get the money-thing, oh, do I.

Maybe we could do this as a series of demerits and keep a running total over a period. That way people won't feel under too much pressure and it will keep the whole thing fun.

Maybe the ultimate loser could make a one-off donation of 5 pounds. Even those of us without jobs can probably manage that.
