Why are your fruit in a cage? Were they bad seeds growing up?

Thanks to a bi-lingual sign outside a summer fete near me, I learned that Castell Neidio is Welsh for Bouncy Castle.

The Winnie The Pooh saga started 100 years ago, today.

I knew the story but didn't realise it was that centenary. :D

It's a great story, the 93rd anniversary of Christoper Robin being given 'Bear' as he was then was last week (the 21st August 1921) ;)

Winnie the Bear arrived in England on 15th October 1914, she moved from the army barracks on Salisbury Plain to London Zoo on December 9th that year

Christoper Robin met Winnie the Bear at London Zoo probably in 1925 and there is a photograph of them together (would you let your 5 year old child do this?? )

Christoper Robin's bear was renamed both Winnie after the real bear and Pooh rather oddly after a swan sometime after that meeting.

The first book to feature the two of them was When We Were Very Young published in 1924 but Winnie is still just called bear in that book, by 1926 he was fully named and the book Winnie the Pooh was published
One of those? Oh I'm sure I have one somewhere..

Wow! Can't believe that picture. Might have turned out to be a very different story. :?

No he hasn't, Christopher Robin is feeding him off a spoon. Possibly birthday cake as it was a childrens birthday party which ended up in the enclosure with Winnie.
