Good luck with the job, pip.
Sounds very busy, chili - hope you can relax a bit in the evening.
What is a banoffee pie? I could google it and will, I just wanted to show that janet is not the only one who hasn't had one. :D

Sounds half yummy. The idea is sound, but I'm not a big fan of cream (except sour cream, but this not necessarily on a cake). I'd try it, though.

I make banoffee pie about twice a year. There's a wonderful product in the UK called Carnation Caramel which makes this pudding the easiest in the world. It's a construction job. Crushed digestives and melted butter for the base. Squash into a loose-bottomed pie tin. Cover this with a layer of thinly sliced bananas, then the caramel, then lots of whipped double cream, then lots of grated dark chocolate
Shall I just save this till you all arrive on your field trip?

I have a bit of a bad throat today, which makes it difficult to talk. Maybe I'll make like a tomato and catchup on the forum. :)

Dr Meerkat says:

I see the humour is still intact! :D

1 dessert spoonful of Honey
1 dessert spoonfull of lemon juice.
mix with warm water.

It's good for the throat, Con.

or:

Halve a large spanish onion and place one half onto three dessert spoonfulls of brown sugar in a saucer.
cover with a soup bowl and leave overnight (put other half of onion in fridge to use another time).

Drink the resulting juice the next morning. No close friends - but it works!

I'm confused. One of my facebook friends uses a meercat as her avatar. I keep thinking I'm talking to Meer. :?

Tired! late night last night at a Parish Council meeting. Having a bit of rant about even more planned houses in the area. The PC are going to object, but the final decision is down to East Hants District Council. And they've not got the best track record for turning things down.

Plus the planned development for 85 houses behind our hour has been resubmitted to the council with new plans - it shows the developer is having to do further work re surface drainage/foul drainage etc, but the number of houses is still 80! and this time we've only got 14 days to object instead of a month  last time we had 240 objections

Then there's 51 planned for about 300 yards away, then the possibility of another 144 on more fields adjacent to the 51, then more plans shown at public consultation for another 76

All within an area that is on heavy clay, does not have mains foul drainage and those houses already built have septic tanks/sewerage systems that are all failing after 1-2 years because the soil doesn't allow proper drainage for this number of houses!

The EHDC plan for housing in our area suggests 175 house to be built between now and 2028......but with 107 just approved about a mile from us, I can't see them sticking to that figure

Oh darling. I'm so sorry.

What happened? If you want to tell us, of course.

What do you do? Are there a lot of jobs in your kind of work?

Spill all, if you want. We're here to listen and support you as best we can.

I work for a government-funded body and we have to save a lorry load of money. So basically a quarter of the present staff are being cut and I'm one of them. Nothing I've done, just my job can be split and given to other people. The usual crap. I just wasn't expecting it cos my team has gone from 7 to 4 in the space of the last 2 years. So we all thought we were down to the bone as it was. But obviously not!

I'm ok. I'm an admin so not specialised and the skills are transferable. It's just the job market is so crap and I didn't really want to be unemployed right now with a Tory government.

Ah well, shit happens!
