I have an appointment on Friday with an optician to get a new prescription, nobody will make new glasses without one as my last one is over 2 years old  I have glued my old glasses back together though for now. It's not great but they're holding up so far.
One of those? Oh I'm sure I have one somewhere..

Had (another) MRI scan this evening... An interesting experience. Lying inside a giant super-conducting magnet, bathed as it is in both liquid helium then liquid nitrogen (to help keep the helium liquid) and bombarded by radio waves...

Fortunately there are no known ill-effects. Even managed to listen to ClassicFM...

:D The radiographer puts a set of headphones on you before you get put in the tunnel - so you can hear their instructions and listen to music or the radio. However, since you can't put anything magnetic or ferrous into the tunnel, the speakers that make the sound are outside the scanner and connected to the headphones by long plastic tubes - a bit like a stethoscope or those headphones they used to give you on charter flights.

I was surprised at how good the sound quality was this time - I have in the past had trouble making out what the radiographer was saying.

If you're buying a lot of furniture, you can justify those extra costs, especially if they end up being a small percentage of your total purchase. Looks like I'm going to have to go in to the store for my little $3 purchase. This is not going to end well.

Mad, sorry you had to make an appointment to get new glasses. Hope they get them to you quickly!

Hnorwood, glad you got through the MRI with some entertainment. When Thing 1 had to have one last spring, I was stunned when they said they had a screen in there she could watch movies on! Of course, come our appointment time, that one was broken.

Of course, I cannot imagine a screen working in one of those. They make such a racket though, I manage with just earplugs, it reminds me of trying to take a nap at the Auto factory during lunch time when the conveyor was running.

Sick.
My girlfriend made me stay home - which is probably for the best, but I'll miss two lectures. :(

What they said! Your girlfriend was right to make you stay at home, otherwise you'd get even more sick and miss even more lectures... lots of hot soup, tea, honey, garlic and stay in bed, sweat it out.

Get better soon CB

I'm feeling slightly broke. I fixed Jose' starter cable, which wasn't too expensive. Then I noticed a couple of other wires that were looking a bit shabby. So I got some 70amp wire and the soldering iron and made up a couple more new bits. All fitted and looking better. Then tried to start Jose and he was still really slow turning over. Seems that the battery has given up as well  So that was another 70 quid I didn't want to have to spend before Chrismas.

Ho Hum at least we are back on the road.

Shame the christmas meal now has to be beard and water
