Have you tried to copy and load it onto a new spreadsheet just in case Excel thinks it's larger than it ison the old one.I take it they have deleted all the temp files, and having the Windows Preview Pane enabled can sometime cause problems, another thought is COM add-ins like Adobe or Bluetooth.

Yeah, done of all that. It's got the whole IT department puzzled.

The problem is I use it to pay people so I really really need it to work.....

Loaded anything new onto it sometimes excel loads additional stuff without you knowing, only other thing I can think of is a system restore that would take your PC back to an earlier time when all worked as it should, other than that. :confusion-scratchheadblue:

Mirandashell:
Have you tried opening the file and saving it under a new name and then working on that one? Well, actually that is similar to what WWD proposed.
If you have OpenOffice or LibreOffice, too, try opening it with one of those and then save it (using the xls extension, not OpenOffice's ods). If there is any cruft in that file it is possible that OpenOffice just ignores it when saving it.

If that fails - dunno. Write the file from scratch (or tell anyone in IT to do it, whoever is responsible).

You and the IT dept! It's a right puzzle.

I'm really hoping it doesn't come to this cos it's load of info that has a lot of other spreadsheets feeding from it and it's going to be a total mare and I need it by Friday.......

Ooh bugger.

Do you run any macros on it if so one may be corrupted, or if possible try and disconnect the feeds one at a time then try to delete a row or column. But try that on a copy on another sheet so your original stays intact.

I don't think there's any macros. I certainly don't run any. It is macro-enabled though.

Oh dear - you mentioned the N word.
Sure it's not a server issue?

Ok, now I'm

I'll check with IT but I don't think it is..... All the other spreadsheets on that drive that are not connected to the broken one are fine.

Hah - yes I've used that term for a number of years...

So.. it's not the "preview pane" issue, then (whatever that is...)

To be honest, if it has suddenly started occuring, it looks like a M$ update has caused problems, Finding out whether that is the case could be intersting...

IT tried to force updates and that didn't work. I'm back in tomorrow so will hopefully find out what it is then.

Check the update M/Soft online list to see what did not work, they normally give a reason and a resolution.
