Patrick Swayze

Postby Perdita X » Thu May 21, 2009 10:19 am

I saw a very odd headline on Orange homepage yesterday

It was happy to report that "Patrick Swayze isn't dead". - Did anyone else see this?

I am very glad that Patrick is hanging on in there in his battle with pancreatic cancer (Gods help him and family at this horrible time).

But I did think that it probably shouldn't qualify as news to simply identify people who aren't dead. - It would be a fairly biggish list for a start.

And It got me thinking about news generally and how depressing it is generally - So i am probably not going to watch/ read it any more.

I saw it on MSN (I think) - some mag in the US had reported that he'd died so it was one of those Mark Twain moments (rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated...)

Makes you wish they'd all just shut the heck up until they've got all the information - still, produce produce produce - what? we're wrong ??? quick produce another article refuting the first and this way we justify our own existence.
utterly pointless the lot of it

I thought that Elvis had been spotted on the Moon, on board a London bus?

Apart from Planet (which Perdita pipped me to!), it may only be a star, but have you not heard of a Sun hat? One size fits all...

Going back to Patrick Swayze - certain papers here in the US - namely such ones as The National Enquirer, seem to be writing all sorts of stuff about him and posting pictures that they claim are of him, but are clearly not.

These "papers" are pretty strange and I usually get a chuckle from the outrageous headlines - often involving Camilla being in rehab. Think of the Daily Sport, minus the nudes and you've got some idea.

See here for example of the Swayze story.

Those newspapers sound like fun to read, Tony.

I couldn't access the link though. I got a 'web page cannot be found' message.
Has Camilla eaten a hamster yet?

Good news everyone! Jinx aten't dead, either. 8) Just been really busy. Got on the waiting list for a job with DWP though, so hopefully before long I can go back to working decent hours.

Looks like the national enquirer's website is down for now.
