Prince [Insert Name Here] of Cambridge

Postby Will of Lancre » Tue Jul 23, 2013 9:25 am

OK, now we know it's a prince, what ideas do you all have about his name?

I quite like Athelstan. 8-)

On the other hand they could call him James, because with any luck by the time he becomes King, Scotland will be independent and the question "James the How Many?" won't arise. :D

Prince Barry has a nice ring to it!

The name they give won't (probably) have much bearing on his name as a future monarch (assuming we still have a monarchy). Charles is unlikely to be Charles III if and when he becomes king. This is a shame as I was looking forward to the day when letterboxes would have "CIII PO" written on them.

As Kate had severe morning sickness at the beginning of her pregnancy, perhaps she'll name him Chuck!

The betting is on George, but I think Philip may get a mention in one of a dozen or so names he's bound to be christened with! I don't suppose Verence will get a mention
Going to my school was an education in itself. Which is not to be confused with actually getting an education (Schultz)

As I suggested in the other thread Godot would be good, there has been enough waiting after all, although as he has now made an appearance that could be tricky ;)
One of those? Oh I'm sure I have one somewhere..

One suggestion I have heard is "Prince". That would make him Prince Prince, and when he becomes king he could be the King formerly known as Prince. :D

How about Arthur?

Least likely kingly name to be revived: the little known Harthacnut (1040-1042).

I think Wayne or Tyler would be a fitting name for someone who lives on an estate. ;)

I can pretty much guarantee that he won't be named "Carrot" even if he has red hair like his uncle Harry. ;)

Let's hope they don't spell it wrong....

Fred gets my vote. But it'll be something we've had before as the royals are not known for originality

I reckon either Alexander or Arthur.

However, I reckon that they won't go for David. Besides the inanity of naming him for David Beckham, I think the Queen might be still sore about what happened with another royal named David, the one who eventually became (albeit briefly) Edward VIII. And in case you're wondering, he WAS called David at home, despite David being at the end of a ridiculously lengthy name.
