Cheers everyone. Hopefully only a check up and chat with D's consultant this time. See if there's any new ideas we can try etc.

Mind you, nowadays we seem to be able to give the consultant as many ideas as he gives us. I don't mind, he's one of the leading paediatric surgeons for D's condition in the UK and lectures around the UK & the world, so if he can spread the message of what (mostly) works for us and that helps another family in the same position, then its all good......and at least he hasn't got an ego so huge that he won't listen and learn from patients.....he's a nice quietly spoken guy who D gets on well with.

Shame the appointment is in the afternoon though.....you just know its going to be running at least an hour late

I shall be attending a tabor and pipe workshop in York...
(It sounds terribly mundane compared with what some of you get up to!)
PS - no it's not bagpipes - tabor pipes are quite different)

Tomorrow I will be working. I haven't been in work for two weeks (not due to illness) so it is slightly noteworthy to me.

The meeting at school and the hospital appointment went well.

The only slight shock was D's usual consultant not being there. We saw a nice irish chap instead who D got on well with, but it looks like our original consultant is beginning to wind down to retirement! That's really sad as he's a great surgeon and very good at speaking to kids (and scared parents). When he does finally retire he will be greatly missed. He's taking on more teaching at Southampton hospital, so lets hope he can pass on not only his immense knowledge, but also his brilliant bedside manner, calmness and passion for his work.

Good to hear it went well, Chili.

I fear I don't have good news, but as I don't have any results yet, that remains to be seen. I have a bad feeling, though.

Sorry I missed this Chilli! So glad the meetings went well. I can completely sympathize with how it must feel to have D's consultant retire.
