An update on the Firefly litter.
All the kittens and their momma have now got homes. Wash and Zoe were adopted together, Kaylee, Cobb, Mal all found homes separately. Firefly spent one night at the shelter and was adopted the next day. That left Inara and River waiting until Inara reached 1kg so they could have their spays at the same time. During that extra week or so, they became very close and we all hoped they would be adopted together, last Saturday. They weren't, they got separate homes, but that's just fine.
During this period, Shelly brought home two 10 year old sisters, whose human had died and they had been at the shelter for close on 200 days. They got a lot of exposure and thousands of people shared the link to them. They settled down at Shelly's and started to relax and act like the friendly, sweet cats they are. Money was donated by various people that would go to the shelter if they were adopted before their 200th day, and a local vet offered four free vet visits to the shelter if that happened. And it did!
Just before their 200th day in shelter care, a nice lady adopted them both.
The latest news is that a new pregnant mother cat may be arriving at Shelly's sometime today.
