(I don't know whether to put this here because M$ are an abomination, or under PC issues)
I spent 2 and a half hours this morning trying to fix the Skype connection for a little old lady.
Briefly, MS have forced all (windows) users to update skype, and since that, some people including my friend have not got video - skype says it can't see the camera (any camera as it turns out).
M$ briefly suggested users install an earlier version, but a) that is no longer available and b) those that could get it found that after a day it refused to work and told you to upgrade.
A brief note on Skype's support site suggests old CPUs that do not support SSE2 will not work (this particular PC does have SSE2) - also says effectively "tough luck, chum we are not supporting "old" hardware"
Had a web chat with support at Skype who suggested a ream-out of the software and a new install will fix the issue.
NO it didn't.
I had to leave her with an audio-only connection, which at least means she can speak with her friends and family if not see them.
(My much older PC running XP does run this version of Skype with no problems!)
