Beltane

Postby hnorwood » Sat Apr 27, 2013 10:32 am

How are you going to be celebrating May Day?
I shall be up before dawn to commit Morris Dancing with Wharfedale Wayzgoose on top of Otley Chevin, along with Briggate Morris.

(Followed by an artery-hardening Full English Breakfast)

Oh, and then dancing at and round the Maypole in the evening...

It's nice to see the English embracing a pre-Saxon celebration. Sounds like you've got a fun day ahead of you. I shall be marking 1st May by changing my calendar. What an exciting life I lead.

I shall be marking may the first by starting a long weekend! 1st & 2nd are holidays here in Madrid and don't work Fridays anyway but even if I did it'd probably be a puente lit. bridge when there is a holiday on thurs or tues here most people get the extra day as a holiday!
If you can fill the unforgiving minute,
With sixty seconds worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And - which is more - you'll be a man my son.

I'll be working as usual on a Wednesday although if it's a nice evening I may head off for a pint at a riverside pub :D
One of those? Oh I'm sure I have one somewhere..

Did the pre-Saxon Britons celebrate it? Don't really care, I'm sure I'll find a pub and some Morris :D
What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

Yes it's originally a festival celebrated by the Celts. :)
