Is op shops the Aussie name for charity shops?

yep, short for opportunity. So google just told me.

I like buying graphic novels as well but I'm not sure it'd be called a collection.

I have a collection of vintage mermaid figurines, and vintage mermaid and fish wall plaques. Tinkerbell figurines also, vintage and new. I have a large collection of Discworld stamps, from the start though about 2009, I think. If there's anything else I think I've blocked it out. :shifty:

Nothing really, although I eventually intend to build up a reasonable collection of Dr Martens boots/shoes. I have four pairs at the moment and intend to get my 5th pair this year. Unfortunately, there's only so many pairs of shoes you can justify buying when you don't go out much :P

I also have quite a large collection of beads, but I'm not technically collecting them, it's just I seem to accidentally buy them quicker than I use them

I have a collection of yarn. It must be a collection, because I don't actually knit that much.

Currently? Only baseball hats. Started with my own team, Boston. Then on a trip to Atlanta I decided to take in a game and picked up a hat as a souvenir. Later, as they sat on my dresser - A B - my wife (foolishly) said, 'Hey you should get the whole alphabet...ahaha...ha...uh...crap, you're going to do it now, aren't you?' I try to only get them from places I'm on or at least have been to.

I think I have A, B, C, F, M, P, T, & W.

Oh, and also hotel keycards - but only if they're labeled with the specific hotel. Because who wants generic hotel keycards, right?!?

Things I used to collect:
- Baseball/football/basketball cards: A mere 20,000 of these left from my childhood (which, yes, ran in to my early 20's).
- Playing cards
- Alcohol/tobacco related ceramic ashtrays
- Beer cans
- Humidors (from back when I was an active cigar smoker)
- Foreign coins
- Matchbooks/boxes

That's a lot of anime, Ghost.

I collect a lot of Doctor Who stuff, as any of you who have known me should know. It's mostly books and DVDs, really. Oh, and Big Finish audios. As for other collections, well, I do have a complete set of the Discworld novels in varying conditions, two of the novels signed (if you don't count The Science of Discworld series as novels). Oh, and I have a complete set of Transmetropolitan, which is the only graphic novel series I have a complete set of to date. And a complete set of the Vorkosigan Saga.

Should I list any signed items (other than the TP ones)? Maybe I'll start another thread for that...

In Paul Auster's novel The Book of Illusions, the leading character goes in search of a silent movie star named Hector Mann. Hector made only 12 films in his career. All are mentioned in the book with more or less detail included on each.
Duke Special was inspired to make an album of 12 songs, each song about one of Hector's films. However he decided to involve some of his songwriting friends in the project. Such is his charm that he probably expected each of them to buy their own copy of the book and they did.
In due course the album was made. 12 songs, each telling the story of a Hector Mann film.

Oh sorry  ....collections..........
My mission is to collect the signature of every songwriter involved alongside their lyrics in the booklet which forms part of the album!
I know, bit pathetic in the grand scheme of things but I'm having fun.
This one was written by Neil Hannon (The Divine Comedy/Duckworth Lewis Method) He was a bit surprised when I asked him to sign the lyrics :shifty:

Books, CDs (remember those things?), shot glasses, posters..

Then I'm also a hoarder, so I 'collect' all of my ticket stubs, visitor maps etc Eventually plan to frame them all when I return home from my travels

Oh, I guess I collect guitars too, though it doesn't feel like it, it's more i have to have them haha. Have 5 right now.
