I remember at school once a choir sung this, and the sight of them standing there singing with the glummest look possible on all of their faces was hilarious :D

My journey through the lesser played parts of my vinyl collection has led me to Roy Harris and his quintet for piano and strings from 1936, with the piano played by his wife Johanna. Interesting, I'd completely forgotten I even had this

I'm having a lot of fun listening to records I haven't played for 20 or more years, All of my old records were packed into storage boxes when I moved to America and a lot haven't been played since, I'm glad I started this little project now :D

Have you considered getting a USB turntable and digitalising them, Mad? :)

Yes but you lose so much of the tonal range in the conversion, if the quality improves then I may do it sometime. I have a really good turntable I just needed to use it more :D

Another old vinyl find. The premier recording of Dylan Thomas' Under Milk Wood recorded live in 1953 and the only version with Thomas himself in the cast as Narrator and the Reverend

I always thought he was a much under-rated composer, not many people have written a saxophone concerto and his is really good

I'm actually listening to his Violin Concerto at the moment and loving it. I'll have a listen to the Saxophone Concerto after I finish this one. :D

Thanks for that recommendation, Mad! What a great piece the Saxophone Concerto is. A totally different use of the instrument than I've heard before, but really, very good! :D
