You know, you don't have to upload XFCE stuff to photobucket. There's always a permalink somewhere below the picture.

XFCE is a desktop environment for unixlike operating systems and I actually wanted to write XKCD :D.

This is XKCD stuff, too:

That's been a pet peeve of mine for quite some time. While sometimes it is appropriate, at other times it is just plain stupid. Most times I'd prefer plain numbers and standardized units (such as the beard second), though, for I don't know how much a blue whale weighs (a lot) or how big a football field is (around 5000 m² (?)).

A football field is 100 yards.

An international football field is between 100 and 130 (really? you might AS WELL say "oh, make it about this long". so much for standardization)

Besides, your mind is of a scientist. Most people don't think that way. It's easier for people to get their heads around references, examples. Everything else is just numbers, they don't mean anything, generally speaking.

Ah but which football. I can think of at least 4 sports called football in different countries and the field lengths differ hugely

The site is US based so presumably American version.

Though I was only aware of the two.
