In a book by Cervantes, an old bloke who had lost most of his marbles and thought he was a knight in shining armour, thought a windmill was a giant with big waving arms and so he attacked it with his lance. A run of the mill sort of story really. ;)

It's where the expression 'tilting at windmills' comes from.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don_Quixote
If you're old enough you might remember his sidekick being mentioned in this classic :

Terry Gillliams tried(tries?Could still be...) his hand at it : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Man_Who_Killed_Don_Quixote
Sadly until date there's only the documentary : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0308514/
,which is quite a good watch IMO btw.
I was fascinated by the story of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza from the get go,i even have had the nick "The Man from la Mancha' on some forum in the past. :D

(Edit : Also liked it from a 'I'm Dutch, keep your hands of our windmills!' sort of way btw. ;) )
