Thanks for the get well wishes. Poor girl is still pretty sick and I think her sister has it now too. :( Just hoping hubby and I escape it. Or at least hubby. It would be awful to have to call off sick this early into a new job.

Del, Joolz, Alanz, hope you've all had a chance to get some rest!

CB, glad you're happy with the internship. :D

SJ, love the poster!

Fed up.

Need to send out some urgent letters/cheques to beneficiaries, and a bit of envelope has stuck in the printer and won't come out.

Engineer guy is in meetings all day, and prolly won't be able to get to us until tomorrow, where like last time this happened, he will clear the jam in about sixty seconds, then send us a bill for £90 + VAT.

Sorry Bouncy, printer problems are so frustrating.

I know. And it's only the tiniest bit of the envelope that split off and it causes the biggest problems.

So very true! I'm convinced that the cheaper the printer, the more expensive the replacement ink will be. Buying a printer is a bit like selling your soul to the ink cartridge manufacturer. :?

It's insane isn't it? Our printer won't print anything if it has run out of even one color. You can't print black text if your blue is gone. I don't for one minute believe that isn't some kind of scam.

I top the toner up with the blood of Apple Geniuses. It proves they have a use after all.

Until we got a laser printer....Apple Geniuses cost too much to condense down for them.

This particular printer is an Oki colour laser printer.

Very expensive toner carts, but they last a heck of a long time.

With some ink printers, it is cheaper to buy a new one instead of replacing the cartridges when they run out.

I like my Brother. It's a HL-2140 and it prints reliably, even after a long time with a blinking "Toner" warning LED on. Toner isn't too expensive, all in all a good deal (cost 80 or 90 € 4 years ago).
My mother is not so happy with her HP and Epson ink wasters.

The Xerox Phaser solid ink printers are also very good, but they're only good if you print a lot.

Are the people in Apple Stores really called geniuses? That's depressing.

I saved a gent about $150 US at a Sam's Club. He was looking for a printer with fax... I gently explained that at the other end of the aisle were the print cartridges, so before buying the $240 one he should check the prices for replacement ink first. Then, I pointed him to MY printer which cost $89 and does Everything he wanted (Apparently Faxing was HIGH on the list judging by the look of terror on his face) and the replacement cartridges are all separate costing about $70 for the "total" color pkg or the same for 3 large Black only ones. I really hate to see people waste extra money on a large printer if they don't need one.

Oh dear, I hope not... I believe Bickaxe was speaking of "rendering" them into ink...

Yep. My sister, however isn't. Still annoying at times.

Yes, they really are called Geniuses. Sheldon in Big Bang Theory makes reference to it sometimes and when he was looking for a menial job, it was mentioned.
When my partner was in the store, a Genius couldn't answer questions about an iPhone. She now has an Android based phone. She also sold a laptop even though she doesn't work there (but thinks Apple are the best thing ever.... she's intelligent so I find this confusing)

I feel like shit :crying-yellow: My dog, Murph, died suddenly a few hours ago. No illness, no unusual behaviour, absolutely nothing to indicate anything wrong. He was his usual self. Then I heard a whimpering sound coming from the couch where he was dozing, then a sort of scream. I thought he was having a bad dream and went to check and couldn't wake him and then he just died. I'm still in shock. He was only 5 years old.
