it looks very good have you tried practising 3D shapes and perspective using pencil and paper I know it's different using a hot iron but it would help to develop and further the basic skills and would help with making complex designs like this one

It's often difficult to tell with these castles as they were often a fortification that got added to over the centuries. Cardiff Castle, for example, was originally a Roman fort - Caer - Taff meaning Fort on the River Taff is where Cardiff gets its name from. It was rebuilt by the Normans in around the 11th Century. Ludlow seems to go back to fairly shortly after the Norman Conquest. Edward I - (Longshanks - the king in Braveheart) had dozens of castles built to use in defeating the Welsh. What is often not known about him is that he got the money to do this building from Jewish money lenders. He then refused to pay it back, persecuted the Jews and eventually had them all banished from Britain.
Thanks for the link Tony, and interesting info about Cardiff Castle! Many times I've tried to get a handle on the history over there and always walk away feeling confused and defeated. But then, I'm easily confused, so that's not saying much.
