Good luck to all involved.

What amazes me, time and time again, is that in areas where forest fires are the norm in the summer, people still drop lighted cigarettes, or even worse, set fires deliberately.

Arrrrgh.
Some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them.

The rest of us are a bit crap.

As above.

Would it be possible to cut down and clear a large pathway through the trees, so that future fires don't spread beyond a certain boundary?
(Sorry - I know I haven't described my question very clearly, but I've got a head cold and I'm having a fuzzy day). Image

I doubt that it would be all that effective since forest fires have been known to jump even large gaps like roads and firebreaks, especially when very hot material is being carried in the air due to the convection caused by the heat, only to land on tinder dry woodland further downwind. (I'm not sure that I explained my answer that well either). Also, some types of woodland need these fires to thrive and surprise.

I expect Chilli will answer the question much better than I can. :D

Oh, and I hope you're feeling better soon. :D

We saw a few bison in the park. People were absolutely insane and would get really close to them! It was unbelievable.

Usual trick; in the top right you should get an option to 'show info' and this will tell you what you are looking at.

Bisons - the pet of the 21st century?

Love the Spanish pics Mad.

Catch-up wrote:What's the story behind the hermit cave?

IIRC there was a sign that said 'Hermit cave', but the rest was in Spanish. So like the piles of stones it's a mystery to me.

That's come out really well, great contrast without any saturation.
