Great pictures, dramatic scenery.

I've been enjoying this thread for a while, so it's high time I posted a few pictures of my own. Here are a few from my recent holiday in Menorca.

Image
Mahon Harbour.

Image
Forts outside Mahon.

Image

Image
Nephew taking a ride. I told him he could steer by pulling on Daddy's ears.

Image
Tap of mystery.

Image
The Milky Way.

Image
Every visitor is supposed to add a stone to a pile.

Image
Stone circle and hermit cave.

Image
Sermon to the Microwaves.

Image
Feeding frenzy. The sea was boiling with fish and the bread was zipping along the surface like a raft through rapids. Really wish I'd taken a video. A few seconds later they pushed it to shore and an opportunistic crab started a tug-of-war. It made off with half a slice and hauled it to safety in a small cave just above the water-line.

Thanks all, glad you liked them. I'm really pleased with how they came out, when I was wondering around the north coast I noticed a smear of sun-cream across my lens, but it doesn't seem to have made any difference.

Here's a link to the full set if anyone is interested.

Was a really good holiday thanks. We had a sprawling villa which was perfect for my nephew to run around in. Menorca is only 30 miles across so getting around was easy, it was warm and sunny, there was plenty to do and very quiet being out-of-season, with the convenience of everything still being open.

I was cursing the masts when trying to take the pic, but then the title occurred to me. From Monte El Toro you can see the entire island. I guess the mobile-phone transmitters are set-up on exactly the same principle as Jesus - to have a direct line of sight to the population centres.

It was a nightmare to take as I had to guess at the focus, took about fifteen attempts. It's a thirty second exposure with the camera resting on a flagstone and pointing straight up.

This one is probably my favorite:
Image

...but it needs a title. At first glance I thought the rock had been eroded by the sea, but it's actually piles of stones added by visitors over the years. Close up they look like this:
Image

Does anyone have any suggestions please? I was thinking of something like Geology of Tourism, but that doesn't quite scan. Naming things is difficult....

Great pics Susanne - Montana looks lovely.

and Knight, that Milky Way one is cool. Is there any particular reason why people started stacking stones there?
