Thanks for all the way wishes you lovely people! :D Things are slowly warming up. We hit a balmy 17th today. If the girls weren't back in school we could have hit the beach.

Tony, it certainly did!

Rap, try not to take this personally, but I hate you a little bit right now.

Being a (now) devoted follower of John Bartlett and his kitty fostering, it suddenly dawned on me that the terrible weather being experienced Stateside at the moment will probably kill off a lot of feral/stray cats and dogs.

The same over here with the floods in rural areas - great that the rat/mouse populations drown, but not so good at all for the dear little field mice/voles, etc.

Animals have a much more acute sense of their surroundings, and especially self-preservation, than we do Bouncy. They are in tune with their surroundings and will save themselves even before a threat becomes obvious.
Mad will know about this.....most of Shropshire is prone to earth tremors, not just the ones in the news but countless little movements that you experience as a kind of far away booming sound if you are out in the countryside. But, seconds BEFORE each boom, the pheasants squawk to warn you. It took me a while to work this out but it happens every time. Not so much here in the grim North, but I have experienced it here.

Rain bucketing down and 60 degrees!  It was 9 degrees on Monday and everything was frozen. Now the yard is a mud pit - cannot walk on the grass at all or it will be destroyed. It doesn't help that the side yard is infested with vole tunnelings, either.

It was soooo humid that when Mate left the garage door open for an hour while doing chores outside, every surface became covered with condensation heavy enough to begin dripping onto the floor. How we are going to get rid of the moisture in there now I don't know.

Oh, and the fog was so thick that we could not see across the field by the lane, and the goose hunters were in there shooting all day. It sounded like a war zone. I don't mind goose hunting in the least, but it's worrisome when you are outside and you know the hunters can't see you.

It got up to 40 here today, rain and fog all day. We're supposed to drop back down in the 30's and 20's over the next couple weeks.

We were at 11c last night. The wind must have been quite strong. There is a lot of debris around. We lost power for about 6-7 hours.
