Yeah, it's frustrating when weather gets into the way.
Bad news is, due to global warming you'll probably have to get used to that sort of thing (more snow in winter), as paradox as it may sound.
Due to the temperatures rising at the north pole, the circular air stream around the pole becomes weaker and thus cold air can drift farther to the south, resulting in colder winters.
