Sorry to hear that Christian.

Sorry to hear that CB.

Oh well, you thought you might not be eligible so at least it wasn't a surprise but it would have been good if you could have got it.
One of those? Oh I'm sure I have one somewhere..

Hard luck CB. But at least you found out at the start rather than the end of the process.

The frame of my glasses has broken so I've found an old pair but they are very strange to wear as they don't match my current prescription. I can sort of see but typing is difficult and walking around even more awkward. The real problem is that I cannot possibly get to an optician before next week as I'm on my own in the shop and even then I will have to wait for the glasses to be made so I'm really going to struggle for a couple of weeks.

Sorry Mad. :( Make sure to give your eyes a break as often as possible so you don't get a headache.

Depending on where the break in the frame is... can you reinforce it with packing tape? I once wore packing tape across the top of my glasses when the nose-piece broke. I just had to look through the bottom section.
If you can manage to jury-rig the good pair, you'll have something to wear while you wait for the new ones.

Crappy developers - bugger off and stop wrecking our village! :angry-banghead: :angry-cussing:

Now Bargate Homes have submitted a request for 60 homes. This is on another green field site. So that means that if all these are passed by the planning dept. the village could potentially soon see:-

86 homes at Friars Oak/Boyneswood Rd
60 Homes Boyneswood Lane/Beechlands Rd
69 homes Lymington Bottom Road
23 homes Cedars Stables
+ a number of other smaller developments

I could just scream. Every time you turn round there's another developer surveying another green field site.

This used to be a village with mixed housing - a few big 5 bed+ homes, some 3/4 bed houses and some of the original 2 bed settlers bungalows along with some 2/3 bed council/social housing. Now the vast majority of the new homes built are 4/5 bed+ homes that sell for £400K - £800K. Very few affordable starter homes are being built as they are not as profitable for the developers, so the whole demographic of the village has changed. It will soon feel like an extension of a London Suburb, not a village in the country. They only people who can afford to buy here are bankers moving from London.

I know we need more housing, but we also need ones that our kids will be able afford if they wish to stay in the same area they grew up in.

The recently changed planning law seems to be working in favour of the developers despite our lovely Government's promises that it would give locals more say in what developments take place in their locality..........Governments lying.....surely not

Sorry......just had to get that rant off my chest

Yeesh Chilli, it looks like they're ganging up on you

They won't tape but I'm going to have a go at glueing them together by glueing the frame to the lens that has come out. I'll just have to cope in the shop today with this pair which I can't wear for too long at a time as I get a bit dizzy.

I'm sorry to hear about your glasses, David! As Catch-up said, try to rest your eyes as often as possible!

Hugs, Chilli!

Be sure to order two pairs. :)
