Today I almost set my bedroom on fire whilst polishing my boots

Were you polishing them that hard that it caused so much fricton that it was heating the polish up to a flammable temperature.

nothing so bizarre I spaced out whilst melting the polish
it makes it easer to work the polish into the leather and I think it gets a better shine

I used to do that on my bike boots, it sunk right into the grain and helped to keep the rain out.
