It depends on the employer of course, but in the building trade you tend to get paid for what you work. When Mr Dotsie was on the trowel I had all on trying to get him to take a holiday

The NHS is a wonderful thing.......it's just the people that run it aren't always as good

We've had to take issue on a couple of things for my sons treatment. We found the only way to get somewhere was to write a letter of complaint to everyone......and I mean everyone!

The manager of the Primary Care Trust, the Parliamentary & Health Service Ombudsman, our MP, the Health secretary, the PM......and probably a few others!

It might have been over the top, but we eventually got what they said was impossible when we initally contacted them!

in the private working sector over hear as dotsie said you only get paid for the hours you work so i only get statutory sick pay whilst im off. the irate retiree of a mother of mine seems to be on a mission from god to have the testes of the consultant who sent me home , we arent holding our breath tho as consultants seem to think they are bloody dieties anyway . luckily work is being quite understanding at the moment, i just hope their attitude stays the same over the next 4 months

I agree that I love the NHS (our version of free medical care here) but when you are on a list it can be terrible.

One of our local papers has taken up the locals on the list here.... one a week.... pressuring the medical lists for one person a week and publishing their story to hype it up.... they have a 100% success rate at the moment. Not great but helping those who really really need it.

Trouble with the NHS over here, Del, is that they will try and save expenditure by cutting nursing or doctoring staff, but you can bet your sweet Bippy that the "management" in every Hospital Trust is taking home at least £100,000 per year.

And should any of the buggers be found to be doing wrong, they get a HUGE payoff.
