Cool that you invented it CB For the record, the latest I could have heard of it would be 1996. Chris Moyles (Radio 1 DJ) was doing the experiment (it doesn't work so well on the radio), and the only lab I worked in that had a radio I left in 1996. Hope that helps with your claim to fame!

I'm not after fame. I was merely interested if it could be possible that this silly trick I played could've made it around the world in a relatively short time.

Anyway, it seems like Dotsie's heard of it as early as 1996, so I guess it has evolved independently in at least two countries.

Unfortunately a claim to fame doesn't mean actual fame. It means you can say to people "hey, did you know I invented the coke and mentos thing?" and they think you're really cool
