Dragon Riders of Wyrmberg - Music

Postby engineeringsimon » Wed Jul 25, 2012 1:14 pm

Hi Everyone,

I wrote some music inspired by the Dragon Riders of Wyrmberg from "The Colour of Magic".

The audio is here: http://snd.sc/TO9ydk (Note the real instruments in this update)

If your computer has lots and lots of RAM then you can view the sheet music here: http://www.noteflight.com/scores/view/4 ... c94e6cb4db

It's another tune in my recent Discworld efforts: http://snd.sc/N7Wkbp

Enjoy!

Simon

Nice! :D
Reminds me a (very small) bit or Christopher Johnsson's music he did for "Gold Embrace", but that might be just the sound of the synthesized orchestra.

Thanks.

I'm unfamiliar with Christopher Johnsson and "Gold Embrace". I'll have to check it out.

My particular sampled orchestra is a free one I found. I would love to be able to justify spending $500-$1000 on an awesome sample library, but I can't. Maybe one day. I plan to improve this rendering by recording what I can with real instruments etc. but I thought I'd get the best version I could out there.

Now, I need to continue reading some more Discworld novels! Moving Pictures is next.

I didn't mean what I said in a negative way, by the way. I know that professional music stuff is expensive.

I've updated the mix to have better balance and dynamics. No real instruments yet.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

I have uploaded a new version with real instruments for some parts.

I have been very fortunate to have michelanCello play the cello parts in this piece, I play the clarinet part, my wife Shari plays the flute, and the saucepan lid is hit with a wooden spoon by me.
