Unable to "upload" images

Postby Conforumist » Mon Jul 02, 2012 10:13 am

I'm trying to upload a couple of images to post here, but it keeps saying "no files were uploaded" in the error message. I tried going to "imageshack" which I normally use and "putlocker". Does anyone have any suggestions? Maybe it's a Firefox setting?

Maybe this was causing your promblem Con.

Mozilla, the organization behind the Firefox Web browser, blamed the extra second for problems it was experiencing with Hadoop, another open-source platform built with Java. In a Mozilla bug report that said "Java is choking on leap second," site reliability engineer Eric Ziegenhorn said it appeared the two were related because they occurred at the same time.

Full report.

I don't think that's it.

I'm just on the trouble shooting section, but it's a pain in the ass.

Have you tried opening a Photobucket account and uploading to there, the thence to here?

Sounds strange. Some things that come to my mind:
Art thou [1] using no-script or ref-control? Is java script enabled in thy browser? Doest thou have permission to access the files thou want to upload (normally not an issue if thou use Windows)? Does photobucket or whoever perhaps filter some file extensions?
Thou could also try using a different browser if thou haven't already done that.
Or try another service, if it's a problem on their side, for example omploader.org (doesn't care what is uploaded, but might show offensive material in "recently uploaded").

[1] For some reason my spell checker doesn't like "you", so I resorted to thou for now [2].
[2] Since this is silly I'll try and fix it.

Some website creators still think it is smart to optimize for IE. I can't try whether it works here since a) I've got no account on photobucket and b) I'm running Firefox in Linux, so any results I find might not be reproducible on Windows.

I just did a restart and the upload worked on Imageshack!

Maybe just enabling java is not enough? You it would prompt you though?

Anyway, let's celebrate with Natalie!

Damn, you found out my little secret.

Strangely, I only get "you" marked as incorrect when using a British English dictionary in my spell checker. US English has no problems with this pronoun. But then it'll complain that I spelt neighbour, colour, theatre and, for that matter, spelt wrong.
