I've kinda gone off eating copious quantities of meat, so frankly the bacon/sausage turtle looks vile. However, a local bakery here occasionally sells turtle-shaped melon bread, which is both adorable and tasty. I've also been told that real snapper turtles are quite a treat, but I've never seen any on a menu, so I couldn't verify that.

BUT! As a segway, who's tried making things out of Nanny Ogg's Cookbook? I tried a few recipes and they were pretty good :-)

The slumpie as posted on the last page was (I'm told) made to Nanny's recipe and was served in Wincanton at Hogswatch. They also had Wow-Wow Sauce (as per Nanny's recipe) at the Sausage Supper and I was looking forward to trying it as I like hot sauces. I was very disappointed and it wasn't hot at all and didn't taste of much. :?

The last picture has part of a knife. So using that as a size reference, I think it's a hamburger patty covered with bacon and viennas stuck in the appropriate areas. Not really all that big,I'd try it out. :)

Yes, she tried it - wasn't impressed. As to whether I tried it - I'm vegetarian, so I had a good excuse not to. :P

As to what's in there (it has the appearance of school dinner stew), I don't have Nanny Ogg's Cookbook, so I don't know for sure. But I did discover that there is such a thing as Scottish Slumpie. :?

Sounds good to me, I've got the cookbook (three times actually, hardback, paperback and German edition) but haven't tried the slumpie recipe :D

What is IN slumpie? Just a hint.

Knowing you lot its most probably cow guts, lizards brains with a side order of goats testicles.

Haggis are known for being vegetarian and cause havoc in Highland gardens at this time of year stealing all the carrots and lettuce.
Come to think of it, cows and sheep are vegetarian too.

Yer, and haggis have two legs shorter than the other two so that they can run around hills
