Congrats C Someone I know recently took pharmacist's final exams and failed 75%

This didn't make me smile . I hope they can retake the exams and things turn out well.

I smiled today because in order to prepare for my physics exam I tried to solve the questions in one of the old exams. Turned out I answer most of them.

It wasn't meant to read as if I'd smiled at that particular piece of news. I didn't.
The young guy in question is taking his exams again and let's hope he does better next time. He can't be without hope as he works part-time in the pharmacy at a well-known supermarket branch and wouldn't be there unless they thought he had potential.
All good wishes for the physics exam. My brother went a roundabout route through higher education via physics to his PhD and Fellowship until now he's a senior lecturer in medical research. I don't think he ever consciously planned it that way but you never know what is round the corner.
What made me smile today was going to watch the Olympic flame pass through Tow Law very close to where we live. It reminded me of those photos my dad took in Burma and Ceylon (Sri Lanka) during WW2 of parades involving ornately dressed elephants.....a great deal of noise and flourish, almost religious fervour and the reverential moment when the flame was passed from one torch to the next! Awesome!
Also a bit celeb-struck to see and wave at that nice Matt Baker who was on the bus following to the point where he would carry the flame into Durham city at the end of the day. He's a local lad and if anyone says anything cynical about him I'll hunt them down and rip off their ears

My sister has the most gorgeous labrador visit her every day for a quite sit and pat and a little snack and a pat for the last year. As my sister is too infirm to have a large dog of her own in her unit she loves having her doggy friend visit. He is so well looked after and well cared for. I told her to tie a note around his neck with her phone number on it in case the owners wondered where he got to at times. She said she enjoys his company as it is and is sure the owners dont just let him wander. He is a beautiful dog too.

Tonight I had all the girls at home for a wonderful dinner of roast veggies and steak and our favourite dessert. Trulys 25th was back in May but with all of us being busy or not here, we finally had her un-birthday. We finally got the fire pit lit just as dark was falling but the logs were wet so it was a brief but happy fire with the kindling and just a few marshmallows roasted. I wasn't that upset; as much as the fire was nice, it was cold outside.
