Amazing Mourice with Typo on the Spine

Postby mlewandowski3 » Thu May 03, 2012 7:50 pm

Hello,

I'm new to the forum, but I hope you don't mind me asking an unusual question. I have three brand new copies of The Amazing Maurice with a typo on the spine - instead of "Amazing" it says "Amzing". Is this normal? Are there any Pratchett enthusiasts who are interested in these kinds of novelties?

Welcome to the site, mlewandowski3! :D

Never heard of that one before. I know there was one of the 'Unseen Library' versions of Maskerade with a typo on and they got quite collectible, but I don't know how collectible this would be.

Can you take a picture of the incorrect spine. Your not the first person to mention this and I've passed the information on to Colin Smythe who said he hadn't seen the problem spines.

Yes, that's the exact same cover. I'll post a picture when I get home.

I can't understand why someone would have 3 brand new copies? Image

If I found books with a typo on the spine, I'd buy three as well!
What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!

Sheeeeeeeeeesh! They saw YOU coming huh? Take them back to the place of purchase IMMEDIATELY and ask for your money back! Scandalous! Defective they is! I DO hope you kept your receipt! ;)

If all else fails... perhaps you can pencil in an "A" with a permanent marker?

I'm wondering if this is a whole batch that is defective. We could be talking of thousands of books in that particular run. :?

I'm in correspondence with Colin at the moment. Colin asks can you tell which print run it is. Inside there will be a series of numbers in a row.

Can you let me know which numbers are on the page as this can help track down which print run the books belong to.

Thanks,

OK, I've got an update to this. Apparently this was discovered before any of the books were sold so Transworld gave them all away to schools.
